A great surgeon once said, “Surgery is not just science. Surgery is an art. One can learn about science from courses, conferences and book. In art, one has to have talent first and then seek out a master who can bring that skill to perfection.”
Dr See Ju Yaw is a Consultant General Surgeon with special interest in general and vascular surgery. He obtained his basic medical and surgical degree from the National University of Singapore and holds a Master of Medicine in Surgery. He has gone for elective courses on Acupuncture (Internal Medicine and Surgery) at Peking Union Medical College. He was admitted as Member to the Royal college of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in January 2003 and as a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in March 2007 and completed his Masters in Medicine (Surgery) in June 2004 and FAMS from Academy of Medicine (Singapore) in 2008.He was previously practicing surgery at the Department of Surgery, National University Hospital before he started his own practices in Ambulatory SurgiCare. After he left institution practice, he furthers his training with stints in established Ambulatory Surgical Centres (similar to the locally known Day Surgery Centres) in the United States. During his self-sponsored HMDP in the States, he also oversaw two major personal developments in Singapore. One of which is the renovation of his new clinic, aptly named Ambulatory SurgiCare (ASC), reflecting his interest in surgery in an ambulatory setting. The second is Novena Surgery; a collaboration between a group of established surgeons in private practice and himself. Both Ambulatory SurgiCare and Novena Surgery are located in Novena Medical Center at #09-01 and #08-18 respectively.
Over the years of routine general surgical procedures, Dr See has developed sub-specialty interest in minimally invasive surgery, oncology surgery (cancer surgery) of the gastro intestinal tract (oesophagus, stomach, colon an rectum and the pancreas), thyroid, and breast. He regularly lectures, hosts visits and conducts workshops on various topics on surgery for audiences in Singapore and the SEA Region.
